Classic Game Room reviews SUPER R-TYPE for Super Nintendo SNES video game console. This Super R-Type review shows gameplay footage from Super RType and it is quite super. The bitch-ass Bydo are back and more numerous than ever and it’s up to you and your awesome force cannon and Acura Type-R space ship to wipe them out. Super R-Type from Irem makes a stunning appearance on the SNES gaming console and shines with bright, vibrant colors and non-stop action. Super R-Type is a SHMUP horizontal …

i had this game when i was like 5 years old, and honestly, i really enjoyed it. its a great game. though i coulndt get passed the fucking seconds level because… well i was 5 and the only gam ei had that i beat was kirby super star because i was a wiz at it and i still am, but i would give this game like a 10/10 because it is so fun and nice to play. they also have r-type 3 for the super nintendo, its really fucking hard but really fun. alot of graphic and sound improvements and more balls. lol
R-type 3 really rules, it’s the better side scroll shoter i’ve ever seen. no one compares it.
this is crap/!!! i hate these type of games!!! they’re like the worst games ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude.. Shut up! seriously…
When I was a kid, I traded this game to a kid in exchange for Street Fighter II. Since my youth, my love for fighting games has totally faded, while my appreciation for 2D space shooters has increased dramatically.
Don’t diss this game because you suck at it!!!
You’re an idiot.
it looks like it copied Gradius III completely
Uhh no. R-Type is a classic side scrolling shumup.
This in opinion is the single most challenging and most enjoyable side scrolling shoot em up. They made many squeals and apart from the PS2 version I loved every version of them. R-Type Delta was awesome and actually was just as great as the original. I hope they eventually bring out a decent re-make of R-type and if they haven’t already port the original to virtual console.
R-Type > FFVII j/k XD R-Type forever
dope
that game is super hard
I have never really been a fan of 2d SHMUPS, but two that really stick out in my mind as being particularily awesome are Ikaruga and Gradius.
Oh, and alos, there was some game I had for NES when I was a kid where you could turn into a flying robot and a jet, and some weird in-between stage. It was probably a Robotech game. Unfortunately, I have never gotten the chance to watch Robotech. I heard it’s pretty cool. But anyways, that game was pretty damn sweet too.
who else thinks r type 3 is better?.
More than likely, it has the elements from R-Type 2 instead of the original.
this game is nuts…. i played through it on hard mode with 1 continue (had to practice 1 whole month) only to find out there is a PRO mode… what the fuck
Awesome game. Love the music.
Not a bad shooter but pales in comparison to Lightening Force for the Sega Genesis. That’s where the REAL pie filling is, sweetheart!
SNES = pimpomatic style. Love it.
the thunder force games on the genesis are awsome but r type 3 on the snes is as good as the best genesis shooters.
79 cent tacos at Taco Bell rock!
a lot of the bullets look like seamen…
The voice over sounds like Ben Stein.
For once I bought the game then watched the Game Room after playing it.
I got mine for about $4.
Its frustrating because you have to start way back at the begging of the stage even if the end boss you’ve been fighting for 20 minutes is on its last breath and the tip of your ship nips the edge of a projectile or wall material can obviously be frustrating, its still a load of fun.
Really I wanted to find the Turbo Grafx 16 or SEGA Master System version though.
