Classic Game Room HD reviews the NEC Turbografx-16 video game console (also known as the PC-Engine in Japan, although there are differences). Released in 1989 in the US the Turbografx-16 has a number of exclusive titles like Blazing Lazers and Bonk’s Adventure, many of which are now available for the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console.

Ha, awesome job, Mark; perfect trifecta of reviews for this stuff! Ms. Theel really got a kick out of the controller review, and I’m sure she’s going to like this one, too.
Nice video. though I will have to mention the PC engine was more popular in japan then the NES and Genesis and for awhile the SNES. So yes in the US it was not a popular but in japan it was more popular. Also I have been thinking of getting one would you recommend this or would it be better to spend the money on the N64 that I have. thank you for your time.
Also you there is a add on for the back of the system that lets you use AV out-red,white,and yellow. So it is possible to get video quality on the system like the SNES
Do u know any videos i could make so i can get some veiwers?
You could make videos where you and your friends review all kinds of games together (even some really really crappy games) . And make more videos. Three videos in six months is not enough to make people want to subscribe to your channel. Good luck
TG-16 price has come down a lot the last few years, I wish the same was true for the add-ons and Turboduo. Unfortunately I don’t think Virtual Console and PSN will lower the value of that like it has for the main system and hu-cards. I’m going to buy the system sometime. It really has some nice arcade ports on it.
You can get a Turbo Booster for AV out or a Turbobooster + for AV out and the ability to save games.
I make that xD come and look if you want
I like the music from 0:18-2:55.
Awsome console dude, can i download Blazing Lasers?
Keith Courage sounds like the name to a Saturday morning superhero. He’s got Courage!
Awesome system…Genesis ws launching w/ Altered Beast at the time which trumped crappy Keith Courage.
Dungeon Explorers is the best game on there.
I wonder which game console DON’t you have (besides the SEGA Genesis 3).
did you know the tg16 was the console of the year once
I loved the “emerging technology” bit.
A few inaccuracies here like saying the composite video output of a Genesis or SNES is superior to that of the TG16.
Even though the TurboGrafx came standard with only RF video (you can get AV out via a TurboBooster/Plus or via the CD Power Base unit), the RF quality kicks serious ass and is better, yes I said it is better than the composite video of the Genny or the SNES.
Do a side by side comparison and you’ll soon notice what I’m talking about.
i loved this thing it was fun! I loved bonk and legendary axe!!!
@Bloufo no it isn’t cuz it has 1 pi while component has 4 so component is clearer.
@ anthonywastrinh,
bro were talking here of ‘composite’ video output. I’m not exactly sure why you’re referring to component?
Ninja Gaiden TG16 > Ninja Gaiden NES
“for your human fingers” hahaha
I went to my local Play n Trade to ask if they had any Turbografx-16 games. They didn’t even know what it was. What is this world coming to?
the turbo grafx 16….if you thought it was hard grabbing a master system YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHING YET
@Bloufo lol, uh no it’s not. Considering that I have personal experience with the very system in review as well as an AV Genesis and an AV & S-Video SNES, I must say that the TG-16 looks like shit compare to the others. With a TurboBooster, it definitely rivals the others, but it most definitely looks like ass in comparison with only RF.
Cards ? A sega Master System technology … ?
