no you can use gamecube controller,wheel, just wii remote or remote and nunchuck.
@MNE09 there are alot and the bring back maps from all previous mario kart games.
@x40sublime No, you can use the nunchuck or a nintendo gamecube controller, but the wii wheel comes included with the game anyway.
@MNE09 Quite a few, but i never played the old mario kart. There’s 40 courses in total

you can play mario kart wii not just the wheel but a gamecube controller the classic controller or just the wheel just some info ^_^
This game must be very cool. I think it’s better than Mario Kart DS.
