Some time last year when my old TV decided to breathe its last, I was faced with a new challenge: of buying the latest TV. I wasn’t sure whether I should go the LCD or Plasma way. After a rudimentary search on the net, I decided to take a look at both before I made my purchase. Later that evening, I was back home with my new purchase, and it was neither a Plasma or an LCD. Instead, it was a Nintendo Wii gaming console. That’s how my tryst with Nintendo Wii games began.
Of course, the Nintendo gaming console is more than a gaming machine. It combines multimedia, PC, gaming console and browser in one. Which explains why I bought it even when it was a couple of hundreds costlier than the Plasma I had intended to buy! But, Nintendo really scores with its Wii games. That’s where it really packs a punch.
Nintendo Wii games have a long established reputation as one of the best video games out there. This is in part due to the sheer quality of the gaming console. Since you can play these games with a wireless remote control and with body movements, there is absolutely no sense of restraint. It’s pure, unadulterated fun all the way.
To make matters easier for the new owner, Wii setup is fairly easy, though it does require some getting used to. The best part, as I found out, was that you can hook up to your favorite sports news as soon as you set up your Wii. It is free!
Now, let’s move on to the real goodies – the games! Almost all Nintendo Wii games are a treat to play. However, some are obviously better than others. One of my favorites is the ‘Mario Kart’, where the player has the freedom to create a personalized Mii and compete against a handful of opponents. When used along with the Wii wheel, you can enjoy some awesome tricks.
Another winner for Nintendo Wii games is the Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Get together with your whole family or a bunch of friends to get the best out of this multiplayer thriller. The sheer number of characters and the depth of characterization are amazing. You can customize your matches any way you want. And if you want to, you may even share screenshots and winning game replays with your friends. For neophytes, the simplicity of the gaming controls is an added benefit. You only ever have two attack buttons and you can produce a host of variations simply by tilting the controls in various directions. The fun of the game is to understand the weaknesses of your opponents and utilizing that knowledge to smash them out of the competition.
Rayman Raving Rabbids is another popular Nintendo game. This a compilation of exciting mini-games designed for the Wii. The storyline is interesting and there are enough twists, turns and laughs to help you along the way. Featuring some of the best visuals in Nintendo, this game is also intended for multi-players. The child in you will be delighted with this game.
