We bought a Wii for a Christmas gift for my children (ages 4-11) and we know we have to buy at least one more controller & nunchuck controller.
We have no other nintendo game consoles (no gamecube or anything).
Do we need the regular controller (looks like an original controller)? A memory card?
Which is the best "gun" controller for Call of Duty or games like that?
Best games for adults & kids to play. Any help would be grateful. We’re going shopping this week to pick the stuff up.

i bought a wii nov 06 on launch day, and love it. there aren’t a ton of adult games like a ps3 or xbox, but it’s great for kids and groups. you’ll definately want extra controllers for starters. no memory card is necessary, the "regular" controller is ONLY necessary if you want to download games that were previously on the N64, gamecube or super nintendo. not necessary for normal gameplay. you can use the regular wii controller to play games you download that were on the original nintendo. as far as the gun goes, i didn’t buy anything. i have call of duty 3, which is great. the controller and nunchuk work perfectly without any attachments. for groups, marioparty, cars, mariokart are a few. the included wii sports game is a blast. wii play is kind of a sequel to this. hope this gets you started!
The best selling wii assecories out are:

hope this helps you these are the top selling wii accesories out now!
You probably do not need a regular controller, and a memory card is useless since the wii has it’s own system memory.
For shooting games like Call of Duty, you don’t need a gun. I think they are a waste of money, since they really do nothing.
Some great games would be Super Smash Bros Brawl (great game, kids will love it), Mario kart (very interactive) and Wii Play (own this one, has some very cool games on it, plus it usually comes with a controller (no nunchuk))
You will want to pick up:
- Additional Wii-motes and Nunchucks–one set for each player that will be playing. One comes with the Wii, so picking up at least one more is advisable for multiplayer games: http://www.engadget.com/media/2006/05/wiimote.jpg
-2 Classic Controllers (if you want to download Virtual Console Games like Super Mario Bros, or Sonic the Hedgehog): http://unicoent.com/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/wiiClassicController.jpg
Other peripherals you may want typically come with the games you buy. For example, the wheel (http://sonytony.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/41ddcylhvsl1.jpg ) comes with Mario Kart Wii, the Wii Fit Board comes with Wii Fit ( http://blog.wired.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/05/18/wiibo.jpg ), and the Rock Band or Guitar Hero instruments come packaged with their games ( http://www.jesperjuul.net/ludologist/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/rock-band-game-2.JPG ).
You should get a charger booth for two controllers, which is around 25 dollars, and a wii zapper, the gun. You just have to make sure that call of duty is compatible for it because really all it is is a thing you stick the remote in. The memory is pretty good, but if you think you may be downloading a lot of shopping channel games (around 6 or 7) I would highly recommend it. Fun games are mario kart wii, call of dutys, legend of zelda, super smash bro.s.
